Abstract

The sustainability of small businesses in highly competitive contexts depends significantly on entrepreneurs' ability to efficiently manage their financial resources. Within this framework, financial education emerges as a strategic tool that enables informed decision-making, growth planning, and reduced business vulnerability. This study aims to analyze, through a documentary and qualitative approach, the impact of financial education on the sustainability of entrepreneurial ventures in Latin America. A theoretical-analytical review of recent academic sources (2021–2025) was conducted, identifying three core thematic areas: 1. The level of financial literacy among entrepreneurs, 2. Its influence on decision-making processes, 3. Observable effects on the economic, organizational, and social sustainability of businesses. Results demonstrate that a lack of basic financial knowledge constitutes a structural barrier limiting the viability and development of ventures. Conversely, adequate financial training promotes efficiency, resilience, and social responsibility. The study concludes that financial education must be integrated as a cross-cutting component in public entrepreneurship promotion policies, as well as in training programs designed to enhance the performance of small businesses in high-informality environments.
