Abstract
This research analyzes the communication strategies implemented by Red Ecuatoriana de Mujeres científicas (REMCI) to promote the visibility and representation of women who are involved in science in Ecuador. Through a mixed method approach, that included interviews and surveys, applied to members from different nodes of the network, it was possible to identify effective communicational actions and the challenges that persists in social, academic and media fields. In addition, the study highlights REMCI’s role as a support system that encourages an active participation and cohesion among female researchers and scientists, as well as an agent of chance that contributes to transform gender established preconceptions and creates role models for upcoming generations.
